Rana Modarres is Head of Sustainability and Impact for M&G’s Private Equity business, with a particular focus on Catalyst, its growth equity impact strategy. She led Catalyst’s anchor commitment to a fund backing female founders, in support of the UK’s Invest in Women Taskforce. She sits on the Catalyst Investment Committee, the Impact Committee of Cross Border Impact Ventures and the sustainability committees of Submer and TIER-Dott.
Rana’s career has moved between capital markets and the development sector, with an interest throughout in capital that serves social ends. She began in New York, first at the United Nations and then at Dresdner Kleinwort, Jefferies and Lehman Brothers. She later joined Oxfam GB in London as Director of Impact Investing, where she led its Small Enterprise Impact Investing Fund and its impact investing advisory work. Rana holds an MSc in Political Economy from the London School of Economics.
